Dublin is the capital of, and largest city in Ireland. Dublin is a historical and contemporary centre for education, the arts, administration and industry. Dublin is situated at the mouth of the river Liffey and encompasses a land area of approximately 115 square kilometres in east-central Ireland.
One of Dublin’s newest monuments is the spire of Dublin, officially entitled the “monument of light“. It is a 121.2 metre conical spire made of stainless steel, located on o’connell street where it meets Henry street and North East street.
There are many green-spaces around the city and Dublin city council manages over 1,500 hectares of parks. St Stephen’s green is adjusting to one of Dublin’s main shopping street, Grafton street. The phoenix park is about 3 km west of the city centre, north of the River Liffey.
The road network in Ireland is primarily focused on Dublin. The M50 motorway, a semi-ring road which runs around the south west and north of the city connects important national primary routes to the rest of the country.
